This print specialises in capturing feline faces. It strives not only to capture the distinctive features of the cat, but also silfully depict the lively eyes, the soft texture of the fur that you can almost feel with your hands, and the delicate movement of the wiskers.

While we previously used the highly durable Charbonnier ink, we now employ a specialized long-lasting ink manufactured by a renowned Japanese producer specifically for printmaking. This oil-based ink produces a vivid black colouration and showsno signs of deterioration whatsoever, even after prolomged exposure sunlight over many years.
耐久性に優れたシャルボネールのインクに加え、新たの日本製の信頼のおけるインクを採用・配合する事で太陽の光にも耐えうる発色をする黒を作り上げています。

The paper utilises rare Japanese made paper. It is exceptionally durable, sustaining minimal damage even when rubbed vigorouly. This distinctive, high quality Japanese Washi paper, with its slightly cream-coloured hue and scattered dust particles, possesses a unique charm.
少し黄みがかった和紙はとても品が良く耐久性に富んだ和紙で、雅徳の白黒版画にとてもよく向いています。

This is the evidence by the embosser's stamp, which certifies that the print was carried by Gatoku himself by hand on Kyoto-produced Japanese Washi paper selected by Gatoku himself.
京都産の和紙に捺されたエンボッサーは雅徳自信の作品である証明です。

The virtically inscribed 雅徳謹製猫版画彫乃図 beside the print serve as proof that Gatoku personally carved it by hand with due diligence. The inscription states that Gatoku humbly created this print of a cat.
版画の右横に縦に捺されている落款は雅徳自信が作品を作り摺ったと言う証明です。

This is a personal seal used by the artist Gatoku to authenticate his own works. Designed from Japanese Kanji characters of Gatoku name, this seal was created by the artist himself.
雅徳の名前の漢字から作られている落款は雅徳自身が製作し捺している物です。

The reverse side bears an edition number and artist signature. There are affixed to the lower part of reverse so as to have no effect whatsoever on the image on the front and to avoid detracting from the painting's appearance.
裏面にはエディションナンバーとサインがされています。表面には落款だけが捺され、エディションナンバーとサインは作品に影響がでないように裏面に捺されています。
